Matt LeBlanc proves a Dodge Demon is fast enough to land a NASA jet
Matt LeBlanc tested the new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon on Top Gear. The 840-horsepower Demon is the most powerful V8 production car in history. And LeBlanc ended up putting that power toward an unusual purpose.
LeBlanc used the car to help land NASA’s ER-2 high-altitude jet. The jet is based on the famous U-2, which is so notoriously hard to land that it requires a radio spotter in a chase car to relay landing information to the pilot.
Since the jet lands at over 100 miles per hour, LeBlanc had to rely on the Demon, which happens to also be the fastest-accelerating car in history, going from 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds.
Even though the 2-ton car doesn’t corner particularly well, LeBlanc was able to wrangle his loaner into submission. He caught up to the ER-2 as it was attempting to land and was able to help guide the big jet down safely.
