Matt Lauer Has A New Girlfriend Who Looks Exactly Like His Ex-Wife
The Today show has been one of the most popular morning shows for a long time. With fresh, seemingly friendly faces smiling at us through our television screens for many years, the news anchors on the show have been invited into millions of homes every morning.
Unfortunately, what was going on behind the scenes was way less wholesome and the scandal that ensued brought down Matt Lauer.
The news anchor had been on the show for many years, and was familiar to us all, until he was kicked off his pedestal.

Matt Lauer Faced Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Allegations of sexual misconduct brought down Lauer, and his co-host Savannah Guthrie announced on air that he was fired, with Hoda Kotb taking his place.
Though it appeared the show would move on without any problems, things took a damaging turn when heavy details of Lauer's sexual misconduct were released.
Variety published details from Ronan Farrow's book Catch and Kill that were disturbing to say the least.
His Wife Filed For Divorce After The Allegations
The woman who accused Lauer has now gone on the record with horrific details of the alleged rape.
The book said, "Lauer, she said, didn’t use lubricant. The encounter was excruciatingly painful. ‘It hurt so bad. I remember thinking, Is this normal?’ She told me she stopped saying no, but wept silently into a pillow.”
Lauer's wife Annette Roque later filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2019.
A source told Us Weekly, “Annette wanted out of the marriage for a long time. She stayed for Matt’s career — and, more important, for their kids. Matt has always been a ladies’ man. There were cracks in the marriage from very early on.”
He Released A Statement
After news broke of the nauseating details of Matt Lauer's conduct, he responded with this statement: “I have made no public comments on the many false stories from anonymous or biased sources that have been reported about me over these past several months. I remained silent in an attempt to protect my family from further embarrassment and to restore a small degree of the privacy they have lost."
He continued, "But defending my family now requires me to speak up. I fully acknowledge that I acted inappropriately as a husband, father and principal at NBC. However, I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false.”
He's Dating A Long-Time Friend
Now, it appears Lauer has a new girlfriend. Clearly, she doesn't have the greatest taste in men.
Lauer has been dating Shamin Abas, a woman he has been friends with for over a decade. The new couple was spotted boarding a flight to New Zealand together at the end of December.
The PR executive is the president of Shamin Abas Ultra-Luxury Brand Marketing & Business Development.
Many have claimed Abas has a strong resemblance to Lauer's ex- wife, with a witness on their New Zealand flight telling Us Weekly, “Some people thought it was Annette."
Only time will tell if this new couple lasts, though, after Lauer's sexual misconduct allegations, most people probably aren't wishing him the best.
