Mastodon Appear on 'Game of Thrones,' Announce New EP Cold Dark Place
Mastodon have announced a new EP, Cold Dark Place. It features four previously unreleased tracks from the band, three of which were recorded during the sessions for 2014’s Once More 'Round the Sun. The final track, “Toe to Toes,” was created during the sessions for the band’s most recent album Emperor of Sand. The Cold Dark Place EP is out September 22, with a 10" picture disc vinyl release to follow on October 27. Mastodon recently released a goofy, occult video for their song “Streambreather.”
In other Mastodon news, fans of the band who are also into “Game of Thrones” got a nice surprise last night during the HBO series’ season finale, in which Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds made appearances as White Walkers. Get a look at that below. They previously appeared as wildlings in season 5 of the show and contributed a song titled “White Walker” to 2015’s Catch the Throne: Volume II mixtape, commissioned by HBO.
