‘MasterChef Junior’ Sneak Peek: Chefs on the ‘Vierge’

There’s a worry that, when Gordon Ramsay is around, that second “S” in K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) might stand for something a little more vulgar. But not when the kids are around. This week, Ramsay is showing the kids of MasterChef Junior — and us — how to make a fancy but easy sea bass.

Sauce vierge sounds complicated, but it’s basically just oil, lemon, tomato, and basil — which Ramsay switches out for mint. To add an exciting visual flair, his tiny tomato medallions don’t take much longer than chopping a tomato usually does.

In a scant 90 seconds, Ramsay drops three useful cooking tips for poaching cauliflower, peeling tomatoes, and pan-frying sea bass. We’d say it’s so easy a child could do it, but as these kids prove season after season, some children do things that are so difficult, all we adults can do is stare at the TV in wonder.

Who’s making sea bass for dinner tonight?

MasterChef Junior airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
