‘Master of None’ season 2 premiere announced in Netflix teaser

Dev rides again in the first teaser for Master of None season 2. Netflix and the creator-star Aziz Ansari announced Wednesday that the Emmy-winning comedy series will return with new episodes to stream beginning May 12.

When we last left Ansari’s Dev, he made the decision to fly to Italy and attend pasta school. Now we see him riding the countryside on a moped with his buddy Arnold (Eric Wareheim). Series co-creator Alan Yang confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that at least a portion of season 2 will be set in Italy.

“One thing we want to do is, for whatever portion is set in Italy,” he said, “we want to take advantage of where we are and make sure we’re telling a story that necessitates being told in Italy and takes advantage of the differences between the cultures. I’m not saying we’re doing a bunch of culture-clash misunderstanding stuff, but we’d be crazy to shoot there and not take advantage of that thematically and aesthetically.”

Ansari and Yang shared in the Emmy win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the episode “Parents.” The series was also nominated for three other categories, in addition to a Golden Globe nom for Ansari’s performance.
