Massillon's 2024 Summer Concert Series lineup is now set. Here's who is coming to play

MASSILLON – China Grove — of Doobie Brothers' legend — is once again set to take center stage downtown and will kick off the city's 2024 Summer Concert Series.

Overall, eight live musical acts are planned for the summer music bonanza, which starts June 20 at the Duncan Plaza amphitheater.

In addition to China Grove, which started the 2023 music festival, other performers will include Imaginary Cookies, which specializes in late 1980s pop and '90s rock, and the Tyler Reid Band, a 1990s modern country and classic-rock group.

"We're happy to continue this long-standing tradition to bring family-friendly events like these to downtown Massillon," said Mayor Jamie Slutz. "It's a (great) chance for families to come downtown, have dinner at a restaurant and enjoy live entertainment."

Other musicians for the series include Floyd Live, a Pink Floyd tribute act; variety cover band, SLiCK31, as well as local longtime favorite, LaFlavour.

First time Massillon performer Erin Nicole Centric Soul is slated to conclude the concert series Aug. 8.

Aqua Ohio, MCTV and the Massillon Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 190 are sponsors of this year's music festival.

The free Thursday night shows run from 7 to 9 p.m. in June through late August.

Divine Mercy event, Brewster firemen's festival both set for May

There's more coming fun to western Stark County.

A Divine Mercy Parish Festival is set from May 16-19 at St. Barbara Church, 2813 Lincoln Way W, in Massillon.

Times of the event run from 5 to 10 p.m. May 16; 5 to 11 p.m. May 17; 1 to 11 p.m. May 18 and 1 to 8 p.m. May 19. Live music is planned for each day.

The annual Brewster Fireman's Festival is slated from May 29 through June 1 at Bimeler Park. Admission is free.

The Brewster Fireman's Association hosts the fest to raise funds to support the Brewster Fire Department. Kid rides, games and food are available each day.

The Massillon Summer Concert Series returns June 20. All shows are free and run from about 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays on Duncan Plaza. Here's the scheduled lineup:

  • June 20: China Grove, a Doobie Brothers tribute band

  • June 27: Imaginary Cookies, late 1980s pop and '90s rock

  • July 3 (Wednesday): LaFlavour, top 40 hits from the past few decades. (Part of city's Independence Day celebration. Music starts at 7:30 p.m.)

  • July 11: SLiCK31, variety music cover band

  • July 18: Floyd Live, Pink Floyd cover band; 8 p.m. start with light show

  • July 25: DJ's Rock-n-Roll Big Band, 1950s and 1960s music

  • Aug. 1: Tyler Reid Band, southern rock music

  • Aug. 8: Erin Nicole Centric Soul, blues, country, funk, Jazz, pop, R&B/soul and rock

2024 Massillon Monday night concert schedule

Massillon's Monday night concerts begin June 17. Shows are free and start at 7 p.m. on Duncan Plaza. Here's the scheduled lineup:

  • July 1: Canal Fulton Community Band

  • July 8: Alternation

  • July 15: Henry Konczak

  • July 22: Blue Night Jazz Combo

  • July 29: Visinata
