Mass. Woman Who Lost Mom and Daughter in Murder-Suicide Dies in Crash: 'An Army of Angels Waiting For Her'

A Massachusetts woman whose mother and 10-year-old daughter were killed in an August murder-suicide has died in a car crash.

According to MassLive, WWLP and Western Mass News, Stephanie Croteau died in a single-car crash just after midnight Friday. There were no other passengers in the car.

A GoFundMe was started to raise money in the wake of the latest tragedy to befall her family. It has raised more than $4,000 so far.

“Stephanie Croteau, our rock and entire world passed,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote. “She is now in peace with her daughter Aubrie and Kim Marie Fairbanks. She had an army of angels waiting for her. There are absolutely no words than can describe the pain and devastation the Croteau family is feeling.”

MassLive published a statement from Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, who offered condolences.

“There are no words to express what the Croteau family must be going through,” Sarno said, per the outlet. “Our heartfelt thoughts, prayers, sympathy and words of encouragement go out to the family, especially to the children.”

Croteau was the daughter of Kim Fairbanks, 54, who was shot and killed by a neighbor while babysitting Croteau’s three children, one of whom, identified as Aubrianna Lynn in a Facebook post, later died from her injuries, per the Associated Press. Also injured in the Aug. 14 shooting was Croteau’s 12-year daughter.

The Hampden District Attorney’s Office said they were shot Monday by Victor Nieves, who forcibly entered his neighbor’s apartment in Springfield Monday and began firing at the occupants before turning the gun on himself.

Croteau is survived by two children, her daughter, 12, and son, 5.
