Plus, her thoughts on a reunion movie for "This Is Us."

It's the final (four) countdown on The Masked Singer season 11.

Wednesday night was Quarter Finals Night, and the show kept things simple — no famous guest stars (unless those phone call clues count) and no big themes — just Clock, Gumball, Poodle Moth, and Goldfish battling it out for their chance to compete in next week's semifinals.

To that end, Clock kicked things off with “Get on Your Feet” by Gloria Estefan, Gumball performed “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, Poodle Moth sang “Price Tag” by Jessie J ft. B.o.B., and Goldfish ended the night with “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole.

This being the quarterfinals, the competition was fierce, but in the end, Gumball and Poodle Moth were sent to the Smackdown, where they each had to sing their own rendition of Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time."

And then there were three: Poodle Moth got sent back into the night, which means Gumball, Clock, and Goldfish are officially the season 11 semifinalists. When it was time to unmask the adorable costume, Robin Thicke guessed Shania Twain, Ken Jeong picked Melissa McCarthy, and Rita Ora chose Faith Hill. But it was Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg who correctly guessed Poodle Moth was none other than This Is Us star and singer Chrissy Metz.

Ahead, Entertainment Weekly catches up with Metz about her juicy new roles, her plans for more music, hopes for a This Is Us reunion, and more.

Poodle Moth on 'The Masked Singer' season 11

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How long have you thought about doing The Masked Singer?

CHRISSY METZ: Oh gosh. Well, they've asked me for several seasons and I was like, "No, I can't do it. I'm scared." And then I was like, "Oh, it is just too much pressure." And then schedule-wise, it was really difficult to get on the same schedule, but I had some time off [this season] and it was just the right time and it just fit.

Some fellow contestants have talked about how they sort of channeled one of their past characters into their Masked Singer characters, and your beloved Kate from This Is Us of course pursued a singing career on that show. Did you feel like you channeled Kate at all or thought of her while doing TMS?

Oh, honestly, it was sort of the other way around in that music was my first love, and so it was part of the reason why I wanted to do the show, and just educate people that I was a singer. Because some people are like, "Oh, wait, you sang in the show [This Is Us], but are you a real singer?" So yeah, it was sort of the other way around. But definitely you're always inspired by things that you've previously done.

I have to say I had no idea what a Poodle Moth was, but now I think I am obsessed with them.

I know, it's hard to believe because they are so cute, but they're very rare. And so when we were developing the costume, I know this is going to sound so cheesy, but they were like, "Let's do something that we've never seen before. It's very special and it means something because they're rare." And I was like, oh, okay. And also, I have a Bernedoodle and I'm obsessed with my dog. And so we thought about maybe doing one blue eye, one brown eye, because my dog has one blue eye and one brown eye just to sort of make it special and specific to me. But it was also just a moth coming out of their shell, and all that jazz. So there was thought behind it for sure. It was just so cute. I mean, it was a lot of costume, but she was very cute.

I know you're working on new music and you said earlier that that was your first love. Do you ever think you'd step away from acting to just pursue music?

No, I absolutely of course would want to do both. I can't imagine not doing both. But for me, music being my first love, it was something that I've always wanted to pursue. And I mean, it's one thing when you're reading the lines of other people that have established a character and then to actually share your heart and soul through your own music, it's a little scary. I knew I was always going to do it, and I just enjoy doing it, and I love songwriting, and I've been spending so much more time in Nashville than anywhere else. So it's something that I certainly would never not want to do.

Are you able to tell us a bit about what you're working on now?

I can give you a little tidbits. So it's really just songs about love and loss and life and my trauma and my own issues that of course come out. And music for me has always been very cathartic. So songwriting and singing would be no different.

Did you feel like The Masked Singer was cathartic?

Yes, in ways. In that I was literally hidden behind a mask, and so you could just not think, not care what people thought, and you weren't judged necessarily on the way you look or what your face looks like when you sing or all the kinds of things that I think a lot of artists think about. And so that was fun, but it was very challenging in other ways. I think everything comes into our lives for reasons. And so I definitely feel like that process was helpful and cathartic in a way, yeah.

Reunion movies are all the rage right now. I know This Is Us hasn't been off the air that long but have there been discussions about a future reunion of any kind?

I think that would be cute. I think that because all of us are so close and the show meant so much to all of us, that it would be a lot of fun to see where everybody's at now — and is Randall the president? What's going on? — we don't know. So yeah, I think it could be really interesting and I'm sure everybody would be up for it. I know that fans would be.

Speaking of acting roles, you have the TV adaptation of May Cobb's The Hunting Wives and the sequel to Bank of Dave coming up. What can you tell us about those projects?

Well, Bank of Dave 2, when I saw the first movie, I was like, this is such a feel-good tender movie about a man who's just trying to help his community. And I think that you always want to leave something better than you found it. I just think that's such a beautiful sentiment. And so to be a part of the sequel was really special, and I met the most amazing people and it was so wonderful. And then The Hunting Wives is one of the juiciest scripts I've ever read, and I think people are really going to be into it. And the cast is so fun. The script is amazing. I get to do some things I haven't done before, so that's very exciting.

What was your takeaway from The Masked Singer?

I think the overall takeaway was you really can do things that are difficult and they can be very rewarding. And if things are scary, I mean, typically for me, I'm like, if I'm scared to do something, I probably should do it and at least try, because I would much rather regret something I did, than regret not doing it. Nobody wants those should've, could've, would haves.
