THIS POST CONTAINS spoilers for this week’s episode of The Masked Singer

Before this week’s unveiling on The Masked Singer, some fans had already suspected Vanderpump Rules antagonist Tom Sandoval. In recent episodes, Sandoval pelted viewers with hints like  “everyone’s favorite person to hate” and a “scapegoat for every bad dude,” alluding to his cheating scandal. Panelist Ken Jeong, who correctly identified Anthony Anderson in the season premiere, quickly picked up the clues, as did Jenny McCarthy.

“For me, all the talk of past mistakes and being publicly judged in the last year can only be one person, he’s been all over the news,” Keong said before the unmasking.

During the NFL-themed night, featuring guest appearances from football pros, Super Bowl halftime tunes, and dancing footballs, Sandoval was the next contestant booted from the competition. Panelists showered Sandoval with sympathy throughout the episode, acknowledging his vulnerability and honesty.

“I’ve made mistakes, but honestly I did it for love,” Sandoval said prior to the unmasking.

After the reveal, a mustache-less Sandoval said, “This is so much fun … Not being judged, just being judged on my performance, it was really nice … I felt protected under the mask. This costume is incredible. There’s so many talented people here, I’m just honored to be part of it.”

Famously the subject of what became known as #Scandoval, the reality star quickly became a villain in Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules after viewers discovered he had a monthslong affair with co-star Raquel Leviss, one of the best friends of his girlfriend of nearly a decade, Ariana Madix. The couple were beloved by Vanderpump fans and even purchased a home together in 2019. But in March, the couple separated after Madix stumbled upon an explicit video of Leviss and Sandoval on his phone. Despite the scandal, Season 10 drew record-breaking ratings and even received an Emmy nomination.

Outside of Vanderpump Rules, Sandoval also features in Fox’s reality-competition series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Dressed in a diver’s helmet and adorned in squid tentacles as Diver, Sandoval slithered onto the stage giving an Auto Tuned-like rendition of One Republic’s “I Ain’t Worried.” During the season premiere, he admitted the costume served as a nice escape from news headlines.

“I was always waiting to become a household name, I just didn’t know it would be for everyone hating me,” Sandoval said before the unmasking.

Each contestant sang a song featured during a Super Bowl halftime show. Cow kicked off the night with Bruno Mars’ “Treasure,” Gazelle serenaded audiences with Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away,” S’More moonwalked to Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger,” and new contestant Pickle, dressed in a top hat and bow tie, surprised panelists with The Who’s “Pinball Wizard.”

The NFL-themed episode also boasted special appearances from former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and Season Eight’s Milkshake Le’Veon Bell, former Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, and former Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. During the show’s season premiere last week, Anderson, costumed as Rubber Ducky, was unmasked, and during a special standalone episode on Sept. 10, Anonymouse turned out to be none other than Demi Lovato.
