"The Masked Singer" is a household favorite. Its season two premiere was the highest-rated show in Fall 2019, and it's easy to see why. The show is equal parts hilarious watching celebrities in mascot costumes singing iconic songs and suspenseful mystery trying to guess which celebrity is under the mask. This week, the hit reality TV competition makes up for the lost time by revealing two of the mascot's identities. The first hour kicked off with The Rottweiler's performance of "Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic.
This was followed by a fierce performance from Ladybug singing Lizzo's "Juice." Next came performances from Tree ("Think" by Arethra Franklin), Fox ("Hey Look Ma, I Made It" by Panic! At The Disco) and Flower ("Cheap Thrills" by Sia [who Jeong insisted was Bjork and humorously yelled at host Nick Cannon for disrecpting]). However, ultimately, Penguin's performance of "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainer fell the most flat. It landed her in the bottom two and lead the judges to agree that it was her time to go.
Penguin was revealed to be Sherri Shepherd who used to work alongside "Masked Singer" judge Jenny McCarthy on 'The View.' McCarthy had suspected the Penguin to be Sherri Shepherd but ultimately was impressed that Sherri was able to keep her on her toes. Sherri explained how difficult it was since they worked together every day and even changed in front of each other. In the second group, the next group of six eager mascots. Anthony Anderson ('blackish') joined Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger at the judges' table. First up was Black Widow singing "Believe'" by Cher. Robin Thicke stuck with his prediction of Black Widow being Raven Symone while Jeong guessed Miranda Lambert and Anderson went with Drew Barrymore.
Thingamagij, an early crowd favorite went next singing"Ain't Too Proud to Beg" by The Temptations. The judges' predictions of Thingamagij were split half basketball player and half R&B singer. Maybe he's both? Butterfly was up third revealing being on this show has helped her overcome insecurities and singing "Don't Know Why" by Norah Jones. The lady judges teamed up and predicted Butterfly to be Michelle Williams. Leopard was up next singing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." Nicole stuck with her guess of Billy Porter. Last but not least, Flamingo brought down the house with 'Never Enough' from 'The Greatest Showman' earning the "best performance" title from Jenny McCarthy. Ultimately, Black Widow got the boot and was revealed to be actress and singer Raven Symone.
