“Masked Singer” reveals Royal Hen as tennis legend and iconic activist with sweet Elton John connection

Literal tiny dancers, grown men riding curiously small rocket ships, and sparkly heart eyeglasses littered The Masked Singer stage this week, which can only mean one thing: It was Elton John Night!
It was also the Group B premiere, which means a whole new batch of four contestants got to sing the Rocketman's classics in honor of his legendary career.
Panelist Robin Thicke put his falsetto to good use to kick things off with a performance of "Tiny Dancer," much to the admiration of his fellow panelists, who loudly cheered him on and sang along.
From there, it was the contestants' turn to pay homage to John. To that end, Hawk swooped in with "Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting)," Husky howled to the tune of "Bennie and the Jets," Royal Hen clucked out "Philadelphia Freedom," and Tiki torched his way through the competition with "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

When it came to the guesses for each of the new contestants' identities, the panel seemed surprisingly clued in. A particular highlight came when, while guessing Royal Hen, Thicke revealed that his father once dated Gloria Steinem — which he learned one day after school when he came home to find her seated at his dinner table — so therefore he guessed her for Royal Hen.
After the first round of performances and guesses, it was time for the first vote of the night. Tiki and Husky were the clear favorites from the evening, so they were marked safe. This meant Hawk and Royal Hen were sent to the smackdown, where they both had to sing "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" in a battle of the birds.
By the end, a second round of voting determined that Royal Hen had to leave the roost, so Thicke got to put that Gloria Steinem guess to one final use. Elsewhere, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed Rita Moreno, Nicole Scherzinger picked Dr. Ruth, and Ken Jeong opted for Billie Jean King, who has a sweet connection to John — "Philadelphia Freedom" was written for her by John and Bernie Taupin.

We can't believe it either, but for a third time this season, Jeong got it right, with Royal Hen being revealed as the tennis legend and iconic activist. This means, in three out of the four episodes of season Ken so far — sorry, season 10 — the actor has correctly guessed a contestant. The panelists had previously teased to EW that Jeong killed it this season, and give credit where it's due, so far, this has absolutely proven to be true. Time will only tell how far his hot streak will go.
