The Masked Singer Reveals the Raven Celebrity Contestant

The raven has been revealed!

On Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer, the bee, peacock, raven and monster all performed for celebrity panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong, but it was the black bird whose identity was disclosed.

At the wrap of the episode, the raven — who performed Sara Bareilles’ “Brave” — received the lowest number of audience votes and took off the costume.

So who was the masked celebrity? Actress and Emmy-winning talk show host Ricki Lake!

In the set of clues that aired for panelists before her disguised performance, Lake said, “Being in this competition has challenged me to go against all my basic instincts, especially having to be silent after making a career of talking to people.”

“Yet being alone with my thoughts has given me a chance to think about my own story,” said mother of two Lake, who Thicke correctly guessed. “Looking back on my life, I have a bird’s eye view. From death to love to birthing you, my greatest joy is being a mother to my flock.”

Speaking with PEOPLE on Wednesday at the Television Critics Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, Lake reflected on her experience performing for the live audience.

“It was a lot fun. It was really fun to sing again and to have this production value. And being anonymous and getting to do something that was very public was a thrill. And I was also happy to be done. I was in so much pain in the end. I wasn’t the best singer, but I wasn’t the worst,” said Lake, 50.

“But I loved my costume and I loved my story. I got to share my story about my husband who passed away,” the Hairspray star said, referencing her late husband’s death by suicide. “It was a real cathartic experience.”

The Masked Singer, hosted by Nick Cannon, airs Wednesdays (9 p.m. ET) on Fox.
