Mary-Louise Parker and Nick Offerman to play Colin Kaepernick's adoptive parents in Netflix series

After casting Vampires vs. the Bronx standout Jaden Michael as a young Colin Kaepernick, the upcoming Netflix series Colin in Black & White have found actors to play the athlete's adoptive parents.

Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker and Devs' Nick Offerman will play Teresa and Rick Kaepernick in the six-episode limited series, which will see the couple navigating "what it means to raise a Black child in a predominantly white family and community," according to official character descriptions.

Michael will portray Kaepernick in his high school years, while the real Kaepernick also makes an audible appearance as the narrator.

Kaepernick created the series with filmmaker Ava DuVernay (When They See Us, A Wrinkle In Time), both of which will executive produce Colin in Black & White. Michael Starrbury, who's Emmy nominated for his work on When They See Us, will write and also serve as EP.

Parker was last seen on screen in the Jennifer Lawrence-led Red Sparrow and the first season of Mr. Mercedes. After his Parks and Recreation days, including this year's reunion special, Offerman went on to Annihilation director Alex Garland's FX series Devs and a voice role in the upcoming The Great North animated series from the Bob's Burgers team.
