Mary Lou Retton is home from the hospital!

In an update on her mom’s condition posted on Instagram Monday, Retton's daughter McKenna Kelley said that the former Olympic gymnast has been released from a Texas hospital, following a multi-week bout with a rare form of pneumonia.

“Mom is HOME & in recovery mode,” Kelley, 26, wrote. “We still have a long road of recovery ahead of us, but baby steps.”

She continued, “We are overwhelmed with the love and support from everyone. Grateful doesn’t scrape the surface of the posture of our hearts.”

Nearly two weeks ago, Kelley first shared the news that her 55-year-old mother was hospitalized and “fighting for her life.”

"My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life," she wrote in a message on a Spotfund fundraising page. "She is not able to breathe on her own. She’s been in the ICU for over a week now. Out of respect for her and her privacy, I will not disclose all details. However, I will disclose that she is not insured.”

In a statement to PEOPLE at the time, Shayla Kelley Schrepfer, Retton’s eldest daughter, said the family’s “number one concern is the well being of our mom.”

“That being said, being by her side is our first priority,” Schrepfer, 28, told PEOPLE.

As fans flocked to the fundraising page — which has raised more than $459,000 as of Monday — McKenna and her sister provided updates on their mom’s condition, which improved and then endured a “scary setback.”

“Basically at the beginning of this week we were going on the up and up,” Schrepfer said in a video last week, days after the sisters said in a joint statement on Instagram that the “uplifting” news that Retton’s “recovery [was] steadily unfolding.”

While the family had been "excited" by Retton’s progress, Schrepfer revealed that the gymnast’s road back to health has not been straightforward.

"We were so excited, seeing so much progress and then yesterday we had a pretty scary setback. She is still in ICU and we're just working through some things as far as her setback goes. So I just wanted to give an update there,” she continued.

In addition to McKenna and Shayla, Retton and her ex-husband Shannon Kelley share daughters Skyla and Emma.

Over the past two weeks, the sisters have spoken out about the outpouring of support for their mom.

“My sisters and I are overwhelmed — overwhelmed,” Shayla said on Instagram. “We didn’t even realize that there’s so many people out there that love her just as much as we do and it’s been a really hard time for our family."

She added, “And so just seeing that people love her like that, showing her that support has just meant the world to us and to her, so thank you.”’

On Monday in her latest update, McKenna underscored the family’s continued gratitude.

“Thank you Jesus, thank you doctors & nurses, thank you to this loving community of support,” she wrote.
