“Mary Had a Little Lamb” is the latest piece of media from your childhood to be turned into a horror film no one asked for. Check out the trailer for the project below.

Directed by visual effects artist and animator Jason Arber, Mary Had a Little Lamb is centered on true crime podcast host Carla, who drags her team to the woods to investigate a missing persons case. On their journey, the group discovers a mysterious house owned by Mary, who takes them in. Enter her lamb — which is definitely a human man in a terrifying (costume? real? ) lamb head — who goes on a killing rampage.

May Kelly, Danielle Scott, and Christine Ann Nyland star in the slasher, which will be released digitally and on DVD on October 3rd. The flick comes from Uncork’d Entertainment, the studio behind a slew of campy horror films made for Video on Demand.

Mary Had a Little Lamb joins Winnie the Pooh and Bambi in the niche-but-growing category of kids franchises getting the horror movie treatment. Those projects came after their source material entered the public domain, but the nursery rhyme inspiring this next film dates back to 1830, so it’s been up for grabs for a while.
