According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Marvin Gaye filed for divorce in L.A. County Courts, listing the reason for his separation as “irreconcilable differences.” In the filing, Gaye says the couple split on January 12, 2023, which was the exact day he was accused of domestic violence. It should be noted, he is also requesting that Wendy not get any spousal support.

Wendy has reportedly obtained a restraining order against her soon-to-be ex-husband in connection with the gun pulling. She claimed that Marvin III physically attacked her, by allegedly lifting her off the ground via her neck, then attacked her female cousin who attempted to intervene.

At the time, the police were called to the incident and reports claim Marvin III fled the scene. Marvin III was issued a protective order and asked not to return to the home where the incident took place and the family members that he allegedly attacked. Police also went back to the home after the incident took place and found two guns.

He later turned himself in and was released on a $50k bond. The two share no children so child support is out of the question. Although Marvin III does have two sons from a previous relationship, Marvin Gaye IV, born in 1995, and Dylan born in 2000. Wendy and the legendary singer's son have no kids together.

The 57-year-old is the adoptive son of legendary singer Marvin Gaye II and his wife Anna Gordy. The couple was struggling to conceive and when Anna became aware that her niece Denise Gordy was with child at 16 years old and unable to care for it, the couple stepped in.

The “What’s Going On” singer was murdered in 1984 by his own father Marvin Gaye Sr. at age 44 a day before his 45th birthday. The altercation allegedly took place over a confession that MG II shared with his elderly father.

Not much is known about MG III and Wendy’s marriage but the family lawyer Gil Arbel has revealed that Wendy and the cousin are “distraught” and they “intend to cooperate fully with law enforcement in pressing charges.”
