With “The Marvels” out in two days, Disney has released a massive final trailer to goose interest in the “Captain Marvel” sequel amid headlines about its lagging ticket sales.

Urging viewers to “be there for the moment everything changes,” the new trailer for “The Marvels” takes things way back to the Avengers saga, with clips of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans from “Avengers: Endgame.” From there, with the specter of Thanos hanging over the proceedings, the teaser reveals a new threat in the form of Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), who seemingly has powers beyond what Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) can stop on their own.

In addition to its callback to “Avengers: Endgame” and promise of some potential major shift to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “The Marvels” final trailer also reveals an appearance by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) from the “Thor” films. Thompson and “The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta are frequent collaborators so it’s arguably little surprise that the pair united again for the new film.

“The Marvels” has shifted around the release calendar numerous times – at one point, it was set to debut before “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” – and if tracking is to be believed, could open to less than $75 million, well below the “Captain Marvel” opening in 2019.
