Echo
Echo

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: The series tells the origin story of Maya Lopez, aka “Echo” — who made her debut in Hawkeye — with her ruthless behavior in New York City catching up to the ex-Tracksuit Mafia leader in her hometown. Lopez must “face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.”

CONFIRMED CAST: Alaqua Cox (as Maya Lopez/Echo), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene and Zahn McClarnon

RUMORED CAST: Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones)

PREMIERE DATE: January 2024

Loki (Season 2)

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: The show will pick up after the events of the Season 1 finale, in which Sylvie sent the universe into chaos when she stabbed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) — guardian of the Sacred Timeline who created the TVA to protect it — in the heart.

Loki, meanwhile, was transported to the TVA headquarters in an alternate timeline in which he and Sylvie never teamed up. Even worse, a statue of Kang the Conqueror (a variant of He Who Remains) has replaced the Timekeepers’ likeness, signaling the arrival of a Multiversal War among He Who Remains’ more ruthless variants.

Expect Loki to “find himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority,” it was said at D23.

CONFIRMED CAST: The entire Season 1 cast will be back including Tom Hiddleston (as Loki), Owen Wilson (Mobius), Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Renslayer), Tara Strong as the voice of Miss Minutes. Plus, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Rafael Casal (Blindspotting) have been added for Season 2.

RUMORED CAST: Katie Dickie (Inside Man, Game of Thrones), possibly as a villain

PREMIERE DATE: Oct. 6, 2023

FILMING STATUS: Season 2 is actively in production, and filming began in June in London. (Season 1 was shot in Atlanta.)

The character will make her MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which hits theaters on Friday, Nov. 11. A recent trailer shows Riri greeting fellow teen genius Shuri.

A powerful witch from the 17th century, Agnes revealed her true identity as Agatha Harkness in the Emmy-winning original song “Agatha All Along.” In the series finale, she tried to absorb Wanda’s magic and lost, and was subsequently trapped indefinitely in Westview in her Agnes persona.

In the series finale, Matt struck a deal with nemesis Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, to protect Fisk’s wife Vanessa while he was in prison, and the incarcerated crime boss in turn wouldn’t reveal Matt’s vigilante identity.

Cox also appeared as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix crossover event series The Defenders, popped up in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. and had a mini arc in Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. He is set to voice the character in the Disney+ animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year.

CONFIRMED CAST: Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine)

RUMORED CAST: Walton Goggins (as Ant-Man and the Wasp villain Sonny Burch)

STATUS: After the show was noticeably absent from Marvel’s announcements during this summer’s Comic-Con, writer Yassir Lester assured on Instagram, “I promise it is still coming out.” Then at D23 in September, Disney confirmed it’s absolutely still on the calendar.

On Sept. 29, it was reported that the show is being redeveloped as a film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel execs realized the project worked better as a feature.
