‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ Won’t Return for Third Season on Netflix

Netflix has canceled the Marvel series “Iron Fist” after two season, the streamer announced in a joint statement with Marvel Television on Friday.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

The martial arts drama, led by Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick, debuted its 10-episode second season last month with “Sleepy Hollow” veteran Raven Metzner taking over as showrunner for series creator Scott Buck.

Friday’s announcement makes it the first Marvel Television series to get the ax from Netflix, leaving behind “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “The Punisher.” Jones’ Iron Fist was one fourth of the “Defenders” team-up that was subject of its own miniseries last year.

Deadline was first to report the show’s cancellation.
