Marvel Reveals Details on Disney+ Spinoffs ‘Hawkeye,’ ‘Loki’ and More
Marvel has set launch windows for four upcoming Disney+ shows: “Hawkeye,” “Loki,” “WandaVision,” and “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” The studio announced the show release windows — and revealed some pretty interesting details — during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday in Hall H.
One of the biggest surprises is the official confirmation of a “Hawkeye” spinoff series starring Jeremy Renner, reprising his role from “The Avengers” films, that will launch fall 2021 on the upcoming streaming service. The series will feature not only Renner, but also the introduction of Kate Bishop, the second hero to use the Hawkeye moniker. No casting for the role was announced, but onstage in Hall H, a silhouette of a female archer appeared onscreen, and when asked if it was Kate Bishop, Renner joked, “Yeah, the superior Hawkeye.”
Meanwhile, “WandaVision,” which sees Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen once again playing Vision and the Scarlet Witch, will launch on Disney+ in Spring 2021. Among the big details, we learned that the show will lead directly into the events of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” We were already perplexed about how a show that takes place well after Vision’s death could feature him, but that’s not all. It was also revealed the show will feature Photon, a grown-up Monica Rambeau from “Captain Marvel.” This is a surprise because it means we’re going to meet the adult Monica before “Captain Marvel 2.”

“Loki,” which is also coming in Spring 2021, will see Tom Hiddelston once again playing the Norse god of mischief. While details are slim, we did learn the show will be a continuation of the crazy time-travel stuff from “Avengers: Endgame,” which saw the Avengers travel back to 2012 and accidentally allow Loki to escape — which, according to the Hulk, created an alternate timeline. We’ll see what all that means in a year-and-a-half.
And finally, “Falcon and Winter Soldier” will launch in Fall 2020 as the first of the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows. Featuring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in the title roles, it also features the return of Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo, and Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter. The Comic-Con crowd was treated to a teaser for the new show. We’ll have it for you as soon as it’s available.
