Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has rounded out its revamped creative team with a new showrunner and directors. Dario Scardapane (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Punisher) has been tapped as showrunner and directing team Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki) are set to direct the Charlie Cox series, sources confirm to Deadline.

The series has been revamping its creative team after determining the show wasn’t working as is. Head scribes Chris Ord and Matt Corman and episodic directors were let go, but remain EPs on the two-season series. Daredevil, which first aired on Netflix, follows Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney turned crimefighting superhero.

Less than half of the series’ 18 episodes were shot. Marvel plans to keep some footage though the series will pivot from being a procedural show to having a more serialized focus. Scardapone will write the new episodes, incorporating what was already shot, we’re told. Benson and Moorhead will direct the remaining episodes of Season 1.

Daredevil originally debuted on Netflix, however, after Disney+ launched, a slew of Marvel series on Netflix reverted over to the Mouse House’s streaming service in mid-March 2022. Other Marvel series that went from Netflix to Disney+ were Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher.

Benson and Moorhead’s directing credits include features  he Endless, Spring, and Synchronic. No stranger to Marvel series, they directed two episodes of Marvel’s Moon Knight, which starred Oscar Isaac, and two episodes of season two of Loki, which is currently streaming on Disney+.

Scardapane, creator and executive producer of NBC medical drama Trauma, co-write Mario van Peebles’ Western Posse. He also served as consulting producer on FX‘s The Bridge starring Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger. He served as writer and executive producer on Punisher, and most recently was a writer and consulting producer on Amazon’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news.
