Marvel Comics illustrator Jerry DeCaire to visit Albion District Library May 4

ALBION — Marvel Comics illustrator Jerry DeCaire will discuss the craft of art and illustration, and share what it’s like to be an artist, during a visit to the Albion District Library May 4.

The Superhero Comic Book presentation will begin at noon inside the library, 501 S. Superior St. The event, intended for children in grades 5-12, as well adults, is free and open to the public. No library card is necessary.

DeCaire has drawn a number of Marvel’s popular characters, including Thor, Deadpool, Wolverine and the Punisher, among others. DeCaire is known for his live-drawing workshops in which he sketches characters he has illustrated over his 30-year career in the comic-book industry.

DeCaire will have artwork available for free and for purchase during the event in Albion, including the sketches completed during the workshop.
