Martha Stewart is giving her take on an 8-year-old debate.

Over the weekend, Stewart, 82, posted a photo of the ‘blue-and-gold’ dress that went viral on Instagram back in 2015, after being introduced to the color debate by her grandchildren.

“Grandchildren were educating me about "the dress!" the lifestyle guru wrote in the caption, before weighing in on the photo.

“How do you see it? Kevin and Truman see it as gold and white, and Jude and I see it as blue and black. I find this so interesting!!!" Stewart continued. "There are some very good articles about this dress explaining the science.”

Social media users will remember the “The Dress" becoming an online phenomenon in 2015 after a photo of the garment, which was initially posted on Tumblr, had viewers split on it being blue and black or white and gold.

A video offering a scientific explanation of the viral dress put the phenomenon down to “color constancy,” where differences in lighting and white-balance cause the brain to automatically fill in information.

In 2015, Jason Silva, host of Nat Geo’s Brain Games, gave PEOPLE a further explanation on the dress debate. “The largest takeaway is that color exists in your brain. It’s not an objective feature of reality,” he said.

“We don’t see the world objectively as is, we see the world through the lens of our preconceptions, cultural operating systems…reality is coupled to perception, so  change perception, you change reality,” Silva continued. “Whatever situation people were in when they saw the picture of that dress, it changed their perception of the dress.”

Stewart's latest post comes after a series of fashionable red carpet appearances from the lifestyle icon. Last week, the icon chatted with PEOPLE at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards about her iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, sharing that she'd happily pose for the franchise again — but this time in a bikini!

“I'm working on the bikini body now,” she shared.

The mogul also spoke to PEOPLE recently about the expansion of her CBD-infused gummies line.

“The original gummies were inspired by a trip to Paris where I first tasted pâte de fruits, a French confection that is as delicious as it is beautiful,” the guru said at the time. “I was an early adopter of CBD and have become an advocate because I’ve experienced first-hand the benefits of adding it to my health and wellness routine.”

Stewart added, “So many CBD gummies I’ve sampled have been disappointing because of the tough, chewy texture and unpleasant aftertaste, so I wanted to elevate this category by making CBD a more accessible and pleasurable experience.”
