Marsai Martin, Jay Pharoah, Yvette Nicole Brown To Voice ‘Good Times’ Animated Series

The cast of the upcoming Good Times animated series has been revealed.

Per Deadline, the reimagining of the classic sitcom is set to feature the vocal talent of Marsai Martin, Jay Pharoah, Yvette Nicole Brown, JB Smoove, Slink Johnson, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola. The late Norman Lear is also set to guest star in the premiere episode.

Ranada Shephard and Carl Jones are the series’ co-creators, with Shephard serving as an executive producer and showrunner. According to the report, the animated Good Times series finds the fourth generation of the Evans family living in apartment 17C of the last remaining housing projects in Chicago.

Norman Lear and Brent Miller executive produce the animated series under their Act III Productions, Stephen Curry, Erick Peyton and Jeron Smith for Unanimous and Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door. Good Times has no confirmed release date, however, sources teased a Summer 2024 premiere to Deadline.

First announced in 2020, the new iteration explores the family in the present day as they navigate today’s world and contemporary social issues. Per Variety, the 10-episode series was ordered by Netflix.

“We can’t think of anything better, at this time in our culture, than a reimagining of ‘Good Times’ animated,” expressed Lear and Miller in a joint quote at the time. “In a year filled with darkness, this is one bright light we won’t soon forget.
