‘If You’re Marrying Yourself, You’re Being Very Self-Centered,’ Says Founder Of Conservative Dating App

“Marriage is a sacrament. I think the overwhelming majority of conservatives believe that it’s a relationship between a man and a woman, but I know all conservatives believe it is between two people,” says John McEntee, Founder and CEO of “The Right Stuff,” a dating app for conservatives. “I feel like self-marriage is not a real thing and I feel like it’s making a mockery of a very sacred thing. I think it’s just probably a cry for attention. If you’re marrying yourself, you’re being very self-centered.” In the video above from Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil, "'Forget You, I’m Marrying Myself'," McEntee engages in a discussion with proponents of self-marriage, also known as sologamy. Hear from Sasha Cagen, life coach and author of “Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics,” who married herself at 40 and guides other women to marry themselves. On Tuesday, meet two women who spent thousands to marry themselves, and find out what the reaction has been from their family members. Plus, a surprise self-wedding.
