The Miami-based couple eye the same clients for their rivaling design firms in the nine-episode docuseries

Eilyn and Ray Jimenez are embracing a little friendly competition (against each other!) in HGTV’s new series Divided by Design.

Premiering on June 10, the nine-episode docuseries follows the married couple as they run dueling design firms in Miami — and compete for the same clients. PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at some of the spouses’ showdowns that viewers will see on the renovation show.

“In Miami, you’re at the epicenter of so many different cultures,” Eilyn says in the above clip. Ray adds, “Miami is very competitive when it comes to interior design. You’ve got to be on your game, because if you’re not, you’re going to fall to the bottom of the list.”

He continues, “We do the exact same thing but we don’t work together — we’re each other’s competitors,” as he points to his wife.

Eilyn and Ray are complete opposites when it comes to their design styles.

“I love to mix and match old world, new world aesthetics and blend coastal, contemporary and modern,” says Eilyn, who is the founder and creator of Sire Design.

The scene then cuts to Ray joking that he wants to “rip stuff up” at his company Raymond Nicolas Design House.

“I really want to bring something unique and different,” he explains. “Modern industrial is the vibe and aesthetic that we’re going for in all of our projects.”

Eilyn playfully jumps in: “And that’s why we married each other so we could wipe out everybody altogether.”

The camera then cuts to some of their clients marveling at the pair’s newly-renovated properties before a producer off-camera questions why the two aren’t just opening their own design firm together.

“Because we like each other too much,” Eilyn answers with a smile, adding that the competition “fuels” them to be better at their jobs. Ray adds, “What we have going on — it’s special. It’s different, it’s unique.”

“I wouldn’t want to be competing with anybody else besides my better half,” Eilyn concludes as she shares a sweet kiss with her husband.

In addition to giving viewers an inside look at their business projects, the pair also document the complete gut renovation of their own home. They document all the hiccups along the way that lead to the process taking longer than expected.

Divided by Design premieres Monday, June 10 at 10 p.m. ET on HGTV.
