Marquez Valdes-Scantling Talks Chiefs Travel Days — Says Travis Kelce Can 'Sleep Anywhere' (Exclusive)

The Chiefs wide receiver says the team will travel to Germany on Thursday after practice for Sunday's international game

The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to Frankfurt, Germany!

As the reigning Super Bowl champions prepare to play the Miami Dolphins for an international game on Sunday, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling tells PEOPLE what it's like to travel with his teammates.

"We might play some cards or something, but with this flight being nine hours, I don't know what we're going to do to kill some time," he says with a laugh as he prepares for the long trip to Germany.

The Chiefs players like to "just hang out together" or watch movies during long travel days, and they often take that time as an opportunity to "get some rest," says Valdes-Scantling, 29 — "if the seats are comfortable enough."

The wide receiver says his teammate that is most likely to fall asleep first is tight end Travis Kelce.

"It's definitely Travis. He can sleep anywhere," says Valdes-Scantling, who has become close friends with Kelce, 34, since they began playing together in 2022.

And receiver Skyy Moore is most likely to be the biggest tourist on their trip to Germany, Valdes-Scantling says. "Skyy's just excited about just being here, man. He's one of those guys who's just super genuine and love the kid to death. He's still young and you can just tell."

The team leaves for Germany after practice on Thursday, Valdes-Scantling tells PEOPLE, so he's hoping to find some downtime to explore the city on Friday. "Maybe on Friday evening, we'll have a little bit of time to kind of see the city a little bit, but nothing too crazy."

The 2018 draftee says, "Being in a different part of the world that you would probably never see on your own is something that I'm excited about," he continues.

"So, I'll take the free trip to Germany, even though I got to go play a football game. I'm definitely excited to go see what it looks like over there."

"Either way it goes, I think we're just excited to play the football game," Valdes-Scantling, who says he's fairly unfamiliar with traveling internationally.

"I've only been to Paris once. I took some trips to some of the islands, but this will be my first one where it's international outside of Paris," Valdes-Scantling says.

Now playing in his second season with the Chiefs, the wide receiver says he spends so much time with his teammates that they've pretty much pulled every prank in the book.

"We're with each other literally all day, every day, so there's not many jokes that we can play that we haven't already played."

To keep the team comfortable on their overseas trip and prepared for anything, Charmin sent plenty of their newest Ultra Soft Smooth Tear toilet paper (the company's first product without perforated squares in over 100 years) to the Chiefs' facility to take to Germany.

"Not having the essentials, like toilet paper, could be detrimental," says Valdes-Scantling. "Partnering with Charmin, they've got us prepared for Germany and they're making sure we're as comfortable as possible because there's no worse feeling than going into a hotel and not having toilet paper."

The Chiefs and Dolphins kick off their game in Frankfurt at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday.
