Players to watch

52 Chloe Marotta (6-1, Grad., F): Back for a fifth season, Marotta led the Golden Eagles with 7.3 rebounds per game last season.

1 Nia Clark (5-9 Grad., G): The graduate transfer started out with MU coach Megan Duffy at Miami (Ohio) before spending three seasons at Xavier. Clark averaged 11.7 points per game for the Musketeers last season.

10 Claire Kaifes (5-11 Sr., G): She flashed her potential as a shooter in the 2020-21 season by knocking down 25 of 73 three-pointers (34.2%), but an ACL injury kept her out for all of last season.

32 Liza Karlen (6-2 Jr., F): Karlen averaged 10.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season and those numbers could see an uptick after Lauren Van Kleunen exhausted her eligibility.

12 Kenzie Hare (5-9 Fr., G): The newcomer has a good feel for the game and scored 2,494 points in high school in Illinois.

Reason to believe

The Golden Eagles should be motivated after missing last season's NCAA Tournament and boast a good mix of steady veterans such as Jordan King, Chloe Marottan and Liza Karlen alongside some intriguing newcomers.

Reason to doubt

MU doesn't have a lot of size down low and someone needs to fill the sharpshooter role that graduate transfer Karissa McLaughlin played last season.
