Maroon 5 Bassist Mickey Madden Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence

Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, a founding member of the band, was arrested Saturday on felony intimate partner violence charges in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate database confirmed the news. Police confirmed to Pitchfork he was arrested on the felony charge under California’s 273.5(a) penal code, which cites anyone who inflicts an injury that leaves a spouse or cohabitant “in a traumatic condition.” Madden has been released after posting $50,000 bail.

“We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news,” Maroon 5’s reprsentative said in a statement to Page Six. “As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.” Pitchfork has contacted the band’s representatives for further comment.
