Marlo, Quality Control Rapper, Shot Dead at 30

Atlanta rapper Marlo has died, NBC News reports. The Quality Control MC, born Rudolph Johnson, was 30 years old. Atlanta police confirmed to Pitchfork that they responded to a call for a single-car accident on Interstate 285 near the Benjamin E. Mays Drive overpass in downtown Atlanta at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night (July 11) and found that the victim had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marlo was known for a vintage Atlanta sound that celebrated his hometown. He signed with Quality Control Music in 2017, and released a joint album called 2 the Hard Way with labelmate Lil Baby that same year. He released 1st & 3rd in February; the title track features both Future and Lil Baby. In an Instagram post lamenting his death, Lil Yachty mentioned the two had recently collaborated on a yet-to-be-released song. Marlo is survived by four children.
