Mark Wahlberg Watches “90 Day Fiancé” When His Wife Picks Their Bedtime Show: 'I Never Make It to the End' (Exclusive)

The actor prefers to watch a movie or something "sports-oriented"

Mark Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Durham have different tastes when it comes to evening TV viewing.

The Arthur the King actor, 52, tells PEOPLE that when Durham, 45, is in charge of the remote control, she usually gravitates toward reality television.

“If my wife wants to pick a show, then it's usually something in the vein of some sort of Housewives or 90 Day Fiancé or something of that nature,” he says.

As for Wahlberg’s tastes? He prefers a movie, football when it’s in season or something else “sports-oriented.”

No matter what is playing on screen, however, Wahlberg is likely to fall asleep. “I never make it to the end,” he says.

It’s no wonder. The physical fitness aficionado often wakes at 4 a.m. to get in a workout before the sun rises. Wahlberg, who used to rise even earlier, jokes waking at that early hour is “sleeping in.”

It’s all part of the actor’s life in Nevada, where he and Durham — who share children Ella, 20, Michael, 17, Brendan, 15, and Grace, 14 — relocated from Los Angeles in 2022.

“It’s a place where my kids can thrive and do their thing,” says Wahlberg, who also shares his home with four dogs: Pomsky (Siberian Husky and Pomeranian mix) Jojo, Pomsky Penny, Boston Terrier Lola, and Pomeranian Champ.

He costars with a canine in Arthur the King, a heartwarming tale based on the true story of Swedish adventure racer Mikael Lindnord, who rescued a stray dog while he was in the midst of a high-stakes competition.

“He was really honored that people wanted to see his story,” Wahlberg says of Lindnord. “I think this was something that he just did out of the goodness of his heart, when he decided to give up the race to save Arthur.”

The movie largely filmed in the Dominican Republic, but Wahlberg says he’s eager to start working more in his own backyard. Last year, he lobbied Nevada state lawmakers to give tax credits to movies that shoot in the state, and he wants to see a studio built nearby.

“Hopefully,” says the Boogie Nights star, “we’ll be able to make movies at home.”

After enjoying a stretch of four months with his family due to last year’s actors' strike, “you get used to being at home,” he continues, adding that he’d rather not be away “when there's so much going on in my kids' lives.”
