Mark Wahlberg Is Still Waiting For His Daddy-Daughter Dance

Back in the ’90s, people would pay large sums of money for the privilege of watching Mark Wahlberg (AKA Marky Mark, of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch) bust a move on the dance floor. But Wahlberg’s 10-year-old daughter Grace is decidedly unimpressed by her dad’s moves. Wahlberg recently took Grace to her school’s daddy-daughter dance, where — much to his chagrin — she refused to give him even “one dance” the whole night long.

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Wahlberg confessed that Grace was less than excited for this daddy-daughter venture. “I didn’t get one dance,” he said ruefully. “I told her we were gonna do the whole big circle and I was gonna go off [in the middle]. She said, ‘Dad if you embarrass me, I will never talk to you again.'”

Still, it wasn’t all bad: “What she did do is she hung out with me,” the Fighter star shared. “She sat there on the edge of the stage by the DJ. I’m sitting there with another dad like, ‘This is not an edited version of these songs. There are explicit lyrics being played at a school dance for girls…Not OK.’ We did still have a great time together.”

DeGeneres pressed Wahlberg on this, asking whether Grace had ever seen Marky Mark’s moves — maybe she didn’t know what she was missing! But Wahlberg confirmed his daughter was well aware of his dancing past.

“She says, ‘If I ever see that again, I won’t talk to you,'” he told DeGeneres. “So that’s how it goes.”

Wahlberg shares three other kids with wife Rhea Durham: daughter Ella, and sons Michael and Brendan. No word on whether his other kids are more tolerant of Wahlberg’s dancing ways.
