The ‘Ted’ actor moved his family to Nevada and sold his Los Angeles mega-mansion for $55 million earlier this year

Mark Wahlberg has sold his Las Vegas home for a reported $16.6 million, according to documents obtained by the Las Vegas Review Journal and reviewed by PEOPLE.

The actor, 52, sold a townhouse located in a residential community called Summerlin. He had only purchased the home a little more than a year ago after deciding to relocate his family from California to Nevada.

Wahlberg bought the two-story, 7,327 sq. ft. home in August 2022 for $14.5 million, per the Review Journal. It's located in The Summit Club, a private community that offers a range of luxury amenities, including a golf course, wellness and recreation programs, tennis courts, and 24/7 security. A month before buying that home, Wahlberg also purchased 2.5 acres of land nearby. It's unclear if he still owns that parcel.

He told PEOPLE in April that his family “loved Vegas" and that his four kids were settling in nicely after only six months. The Oscar-nominated actor and his wife, Rhea Durham, share Ella, 19, Michael, 16, Brendan, 14, and Grace, 13.

In October 2022, Wahlberg, revealed on The Talk that he and his family had left California behind in favor of Sin City. He said he hoped to lobby for tax credits to "build a state-of-the-art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0."

Wahlberg said he "moved to California many years ago to pursue acting," and has "only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there."

"So to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us," said the Uncharted star.

He found a buyer for his Los Angeles mega-mansion in February 2023 after a multimillion-dollar price cut. The 30,500 sq. ft. home in North Beverly Park, an exclusive gated community, boasts 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms. It sits on 6.2 acres of land, and when it was listed almost a year prior in April 2022, it was considered to be L.A. County’s seventh-largest property on the market.

It was first put on the market for $87.5 million before its price was reduced to $79.5 million in December 2022.

Though Wahlberg is active in the world of real estate, his career as an actor may be nearing its end. He told Marvin R. Shaken in a recent video interview with Cigar Aficionado: “I don’t think that I’ll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now.”

He called acting “the most difficult thing,” saying, “I’m certainly working harder now than ever. Certain businesses, you kind of build them, pass them on or you exit.”
