Mark Wahlberg is just like any other dad.

“I've got a teenager who won't stop playing the video games. I've got a daughter who thinks she knows everything and [me and wife Rhea Durham] are complete idiots in many, many ways,” he tells PEOPLE at the Las Vegas premiere of his movie “The Family Plan.”

In October 2022, the Oscar-nominated actor revealed his family had relocated from Los Angeles to Nevada to give them a "better life and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer," during a virtual appearance on The Talk.

In October, Wahlberg, 52, exclusively told PEOPLE that Durham, 45, and kids Grace, 13, Ella, 20, Brendan, 15, and Michael, 17, had all "adapted nicely" to their new lives. "The kids are all out at school, and everybody's happy," he added.

In "The Family Plan" Wahlberg plays a former assassin-turned-suburban dad who is attempting the same move to Nevada — only this time it's because his cover has been blown and he needs to find safety amid the bright light of Las Vegas.

In a fun moment, the movie includes a scene where Wahlberg and costar Michelle Monaghan rap along to the classic Vanilla Ice song "Ice, Ice Baby.”

When asked if the scene gave him flashbacks to his former rap career as Marky Mark, Wahlberg tells PEOPLE that “Marky Mark wouldn't have done Vanilla Ice. I'm a little bit more amendable now. I think it was one of those things where it was fun.”

The night before filming, director Simon Cellan Jones also suggested about ten other songs that he figured could work during the scene.

“Most of them were like these weird Irish folk songs,” Wahlberg says. “[Ice, Ice Baby] was the only song that we knew and I actually just thought it would be funny.”

“Michelle, she showed her true colors and she loves the song,'' he adds about Monaghan who plays his wife in the movie. "She knew every word. First verse, second verse to last."

As much as Monaghan committed to the role, so did Wahlberg. In one scene, Wahlberg speaks French to his movie wife — something it took him four months to prepare for.

“He's the hardest working actor in show,” Jones tells PEOPLE. “He commits. He has a scene where he speaks French and he was practicing for months. He's got a fight scene, he'll try and do all the stunts himself. He turns up. He comes in and he commits.”
