Mark Ronson Teases the 'Absolute Bananas' Spectacle of Ryan Gosling's 'I'm Just Ken' Performance at 2024 Oscars

Ronson confessed being a part of the Oscar-nominated track felt surreal before his co-creator Andrew Wyatt agreed, adding, "This ended up being a phenomenon like we never could have imagined"

Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt are teasing the details Ryan Gosling's highly anticipated performance of "I'm Just Ken" on Hollywood's biggest night.

The co-creators of the Oscar-nominated Barbie song told fans of what's to come in Gosling's upcoming performance of the track on the 2024 Academy Awards red carpet.

"It's [an] absolutely bananas spectacle," Ronson, 48, said to E!'s Laverne Cox. "We're only ever gonna get to to perform this song maybe once with Ryan."

Noting how the actor's "kind of like put us all on his shoulders" or rather "Ken's shoulders," the music producer also opened up about how surreal it's been to be involved with the production of the iconic Barbie anthem.

"We were backstage saying before like, 'We can't believe we're a part of this,'" he added. "It's very exciting."

When Cox, 51, asked the duo if they expected the overwhelming response to the Greta Gerwig-led film, Wyatt confessed that he "felt the love" upon it's release but never thought Barbie would become such a global event.

"Then as the film kind of started coming out and people started more and more people started getting into it, that's when you're like, 'Wow, this ended up being a phenomenon like we never could have imagined,'" he said.

Gosling, 43, will take the stage to perform "I'm Just Ken" at this year's Oscars.

Other original song nominees set to perform at Hollywood's biggest night include: “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot (performed by Becky G, music and lyric by Diane Warren), “It Never Went Away” from American Symphony (performed by Jon Batiste, music and lyric by Batiste and Dan Wilson), “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon (performed by Scott George and the Osage Singers, music and lyric by George) and “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie (performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, music and lyric by Eilish and O’Connell).

Though Gosling isn't nominated for the tune in the best original song category, he nabbed a nomination for best supporting actor for his performance in Barbie.

Last month, Ronson told PEOPLE of how he jumpted at the chance to work with Gerwig, 40, on the movie's soundtrack — but didn't expect "I'm Just Ken" to take on the life that it has.

"There was never any idea in the script that Ryan was going to sing. It was like, maybe there'll be a song in the credits," he explained at the time. "He's the tragic No. 2 — I wanted you to feel his pain. We wrote this song, and it was almost like a Beach Boys demo, a ballad. I sent it to Greta, and she really dug it. Then she said, 'I played this for Ryan. He wants to sing it in the film.' I was just so gobsmacked."

The 96th Oscars will air live from L.A.'s Dolby Theatre Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
