Mark Hamill finally met his Star Wars mother Natalie Portman.

The actor, 72, shared a photo of himself smiling alongside the Oscar winner, 42, as they both attended the 2024 Golden Globes. Portman was a nominee for her movie May December, while Hamill presented the award for a new category, cinematic box office achievement (which ultimately went to Barbie).

"Now I have finally met my 'mother', thanks to the @goldenglobes," Hamill wrote in the caption.

Hamill, of course, played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, starting with 1977's A New Hope. Portman, meanwhile, starred as Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy, introduced in 1999's The Phantom Menace. Padmé is revealed as mom to Luke and Leia, who was famously played by the late Carrie Fisher.

Back in June 2018, Hamill, who reprised his role as Luke in the recent blockbuster Star Wars trilogy as well, revealed that he'd never been introduced to Portman. He wrote on X at the time: "FUN FACT: I've never met this woman."

Later that week, Portman was asked about this on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and she said, "I know, It’s such a shame, I would love to meet him. Mark, I would love to meet you. Where are ya? Come over!"

Hamill has met Portman's costar Hayden Christensen, who played his character's father in the prequel films. They posed together at the Star Wars Celebration at Orange County Convention Center on April 13, 2017 in Orlando, Florida.

And, Hamill wrote on Instagram in April 2020, "SHOUT OUT to Hayden Christensen for no particular reason, other than being amongst the coolest of Canadians - a father young enough to be my son - & the one & only one I know they call the 'Chosen One.'"

Portman told GQ in May that she would be open to reprising her role in another Star Wars iteration: "No one's ever asked me to return, but I'm open to it," she said at the time.
