In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars alum Mark Hamill addressed Lucasfilm’s upcoming Daisy Ridley-led movie.

Hamill hinted that there are currently no plans for his possible return as Luke Skywalker in the untitled project. When asked about the possibility of Luke appearing as a Force ghost in the movie, the actor admitted he doesn’t “any expectations of that happening.”

In addition, Hamill also recalled his experience filming Luke and R2-D2’s touching scene in 2017’s The Last Jedi.

“Well, the whole thing was emotional, because when I read [Episode] VIII, I knew it was over,” He said. “So I was relishing every moment, but also saying goodbye to all those people that I had associated with over the years. So I still miss them.”

Lucasfilm’s Upcoming Star Wars Movies

Lucasfilm has announced the development of three Star Wars movies, which includes a project featuring the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. Ridley’s untitled feature will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), from a screenplay written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, the movie will reportedly follow Rey as she rebuilds a new Jedi Order.

The second untitled movie is billed as a crossover event, which will wrap up interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and other upcoming Disney+ shows. It will be directed by Dave Filoni, best known for creating popular animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Both series introduced a number of fan-favorite characters, including Ahsoka Tano and Bo Khatan.

Lucasfilm has also enlisted Logan filmmaker James Mangold to direct a movie centered on the dawn of the Jedi. It will be set thousands of years before A New Hope. Besides the three new projects, Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson’s long-in-development Star Wars movies are still in active development.
