Marissa Lawrence is thanking fans who flooded her Instagram DMs this week with well wishes for her NFL star husband Trevor Lawrence, who left Monday night’s football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury.

The Jaguars quarterback, 24, did not return to Monday night’s game after the injury, which his team eventually lost in overtime 34-31. With the NFL playoffs just over a month away and the Jaguars poised to make a run at the Super Bowl, Trevor's game-ending injury left fans holding their breaths.

While a number of NFL stars have spoken out recently about the way many sports fans have used social media to harass them with violent and racist messages, Marissa took to Instagram on Tuesday to highlight the sometimes positive ways fans use their platforms to connect with athletes.

In particular, she shared a clip of messages she received from fans who sent her DMs hoping to boost Trevor's spirits after Monday night’s injury.

"Really overwhelmed by people's kindness and love," she said on her Instagram Story in a clip that showed her scrolling through the fans' messages wishing her husband a speedy recovery. "Just wanted to share something positive and thank everyone truly for your prayers and support. Grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing people."

Trevor also thanked fans on X after the game, writing, "Thanks to everyone for the prayers and everyone that reached out," along with a raised hands emoji. "It is much appreciated."

The Jaguars said this week that Trevor sustained a high ankle sprain and that he could potentially return next Sunday when the team takes on the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN.

That’s good news for Jags fans – including Marissa, who regularly attends her husband’s games and celebrates the team’s success on social media.
