Mariska Hargitay surprised a young "Law & Order: SVU" fan who used a tip she saw on the show to help Florida police catch the man who allegedly attempted to kidnap her.

Hargitay chatted with the 11-year-old girl, identified only by her first name Alyssa, on "Today" Friday saying she was "honored" to meet the young fan.

"I just want to tell you how blown away me and all of my squad are and I think the whole world right now that you had the forethought and the wherewithal to do what you did, and I am just blown away," Hargitay said.

The actress gifted Alyssa with a signed script of "Law & Order: SVU" and called the girl "strong and brave."

According to a report from Today, published Thursday, the 11-year-old girl was playing outside with homemade blue slime while waiting for the bus, when a man charged at her and attempted to drag her into his white SUV.

"The man got out of his vehicle, holding a knife, came towards me, and I tried to run, but he caught me," the girl told the outlet.

Surveillance video of the incident shared by Today shows the attacker picking the girl up before both fall to the ground. Alyssa told the outlet that, before the man fled to his car, she rubbed some of her blue slime onto his arm.

"I knew that might be better evidence if the cops do find him," the girl said. The outlet reports Alyssa picked up this detective tip from watching "Law & Order: SVU" with her mother.

And the clue paid off. Police apprehended the man hours later, with Sheriff Chip Simmons noting at a press conference that "the suspect, when we caught him, had blue slime all over his own arms."

The slimed suspect, 30, has been charged with attempted kidnapping of a child under 13, aggravated assault and battery, according to Today.

"Alyssa, first and most important, I am so relieved and grateful to know that you are safe," the actress wrote. "I am so honored to be part of your incredible story. You are one BRAVE, Strong and Smart young woman."

Hargitay suggested Alyssa may have inspired a new gadget in the series.

"I think the SVU squad might have to add slime to their crimefighting gear!" she added. "Take good care of yourself and each other. With all my love, your number one fan, Mariska."
