Looking for a coffee table book? The beautifully illustrated, “Marilyn: Her Life in Her Own Words,” features the late actress’s never-before-published story as told in her own words. The book, which has 150 photographs — many of which had never been published before — and is culled from conversations with photojournalist and author George Barris who interviewed and photographed Monroe on the set of “Some Like It Hot.” Having first met eight years earlier, Monroe and Barris forged a friendship and had begun working on a book together just two months before her death. Barris later released “Marilyn: Her Life in Her Own Words” on what would have been Monroe’s 75th birthday in 2001.
