Marie Osmond makes her soap opera debut on 'The Bold and the Beautiful' on Oct. 27.

For Marie Osmond, becoming a bonafide soap star has been more than a decade in the making.

The singer and actress, 64, was originally set to appear on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2011, but she was performing in a Las Vegas residency with brother Donny Osmond at that time, making scheduling a challenge. After the residency ended in 2019, Osmond tells PEOPLE she created a bucket list brimming with "everything that when you’re under contract, you really can’t do,” including high-octane activities (ziplining, skydiving and climbing Mount Sinai) and a lifelong entertainment dream: finally making her soap opera debut.

Starring on a soap may not qualify as dangerous work, but now, Osmond can cross that off her bucket list, too. The entertainer is set to make her debut on The Bold and the Beautiful on the Oct. 27 episode of the CBS series five-part event, beginning Oct. 25.

Osmond plays the wealthy Countess Von Frankfurt, a longtime client of fashion house Forrester Creations who travels to Los Angeles to view the newest collections from Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and his father Eric Forrester (John McCook) in what CBS is billing as a “highly-anticipated fashion showdown.”

“She’s got a little ‘tude going,” Osmond hints, adding, “Let’s just say she’s unique. It’s not one [character] that I’ve played before, and I enjoyed that. I love it. You can just channel a few people here and there, and she was fun.”

Osmond’s impressive decades-long career spans music, TV, film and theater. But the award-winning artist admitted she was “blown away” by The Bold and the Beautiful cast's work ethic.

“These people will get 25 pages that they have to memorize in one day and do it right when they get them, and their hours are insane,” she adds. “I started at five in the morning, and I left at 11 o'clock. Just because it was, I'm sure this [was] special. But man, they work hard, and I had two days to get everything memorized, figured out and learned.”

The actress also quickly adapted to the brisk pace of filming.

“When you're doing film, you could spend all day doing two pages or four pages — that's ambitious — and you shoot it over and over, this angle and that angle,” Osmond continues. “On a soap, you really have one shot. You're lucky if you get two. ... So you have to show up ready right then and there with your attitude, your looks, your understory. It's fast. It's so fast.”

After The Bold and the Beautiful, Osmond plans on working until the holidays, preparing for and performing a nine-date orchestral Christmas tour with nephew David Osmond. Afterward, the entertainer will briefly hit the pause button to spend time with her family, which includes eight children — Stephen, 40, Jessica, 36, Rachael, 34, Brandon, 27, Brianna, 25, Matthew, 24, and Abigail, 21 — as well as nine grandchildren. (She also had a late son named Michael, who died in February 2010.)

"I'm going to work up until Christmas, and then that's when all of my kids and I get together,” she explains. “A couple of them won't be able to be there just because of work and location, but once Christmas is done, my husband and I will go and see all of those kids too. … It's just so fun I can't tell you.”
