Mariah Who?! Lil Nas X Breaks Billboard Record for Longest #1 Track

20-year-old Lil Nas X has broken the record for longest-running #1 song, with his “Old Town Road” at the top for the 17th week in a row.

Billboard announced Monday that the rapper’s song with Billy Ray Cyrus has officially stayed atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 17 weeks .

Lil Nas X tweeted out, “CANT NOBODY TELL ME NOTHINNNNNNNNNN

He also said, “YEEE TF HAWWW

Lil Nas X tied the record last week with 16 straight weeks at the top. The other two songs include the 1995 Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men song “One Sweet Day” and 2017’s “Despacito” remix with Justin Bieber.

The closest songs below those all stayed at the top for 14 straight weeks. The songs include; 2015’s “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars and 2009’s “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, 2005’s “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, 1997’s “Candle in The Wind” by Elton John, 1996’s “Macarena”, 1994’s “I’ll Make Love to You” by Boyz II Men and 1992’s “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

After the rapper tied the longest run at #1, he posted that he, “just forced everybody at red lobsters to stream old town road” in hopes of breaking the record, which clearly worked.

Earlier this month, TIME magazine named Lil Nas X one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet for 2019.

The 20-year-old rapper, who came out as gay during Pride Month, recently sat down with the BBC. He talked about how the internet trolls don’t bother him in the slightest and the response he received following the revelation.

Lil Nas X told the hosts his recent coming out was not something he originally planned. He said, “It was just something I was considering just like never doing ever. Just like taking to the grave. But it was like I don’t want to just live my entire life ... not doing what I want to do."

He added, “I also feel like i'm opening the doors for more people.”
