Over the last seven years, it was not unusual to see Mariah Carey’s boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka, by her side at every event — from her concerts to her trips to Disneyland with her 12-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe (dad is her ex-husband Nick Cannon). Lately, fans have noticed that the 40-year-old dancer and choreographer has been absent from the 54-year-old singer’s busy Christmas schedule, and all signs are pointing to a holiday split.

While Carey has remained silent on the subject, a People insider revealed that Tananka isn’t expected at her Aspen vacation this year, a trip he’s traditionally accompanied her on. The duo is normally one of the snowy getaway regulars as celebrities flock to Colorado to enjoy a winter wonderland. Anyone taking note would realize that the “Vision of Love” singer hasn’t been spotted in public with her boyfriend since March while celebrating her birthday (aka “her anniversary”). Since then, Carey has been absent from his Instagram grid.

Tanaka began working with Carey in 2006 on her Adventures of Mimi tour, but their relationship didn’t turn romantic until 2016. The first year of their romance was a bit rocky with an on-again, off-again situation, but they managed to reunite by the end of 2017. He’s been a fixture in Carey’s inner circle ever since, spending precious moments with the talented singer and her two kids. However, a recent People cover story with Carey had fans questioning what was going on in her personal life.

She shared, “I’ve been looking forward to this Christmas for, like, the whole year. Since last year — because last year wasn’t the greatest. I’m thankful for them all, but it wasn’t my most fun version of Christmas ever. Come hell or high water, this year, this Christmas, we are going to have fun.” Was she referring to Tananka with this quote? Carey’s silence about the topic might be the only information anyone needs because it looks like she’s ready to rock the holiday as a single woman.
