Mariah Carey’s Ex Bryan Tanaka Got Candid About Their Recent Breakup & It’s Heartbreaking

There’s been quite a bit of speculation surrounding Mariah Carey’s relationship with Bryan Tanaka after the duo hasn’t been spotted together in months. Sources close to them have confirmed the breakup, but Carey and Tanaka have remained silent until now. One of them is telling fans that, sadly, they are done.
The 40-year-old dancer and choreographer shared an emotional statement with his Instagram followers on Tuesday. “Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound requests and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared,” the statement read. The former couple started dating in 2016, and shared seven memorable years together that Tanaka noted will be “etched in my heart forever.”

He praised Carey’s “dedication to her family and her commitment to her craft… during our shared journey.” He also sent a personal note to the 54-year-old superstar and her 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, from her marriage to Nick Cannon. “I want to express my love and appreciation for Mariah and her incredible children, whose warmth and kindness enriched my life in ways words cannot capture,” Tanaka added.
He went on to thank the fans and asked for privacy “during the sensitive time,” but Tanaka has officially closed the door on his epic Carey chapter. Page Six reported that Tanaka wants to start a family and that’s where their 14-year age gap played a part in their split. “That’s not where she is at,” a source explained.
Carey has not confirmed the news herself, but she was rather cryptic in a recent People cover story that might have referred to her Tanaka troubles. “I’ve been looking forward to this Christmas for, like, the whole year. Since last year — because last year wasn’t the greatest,” she said. “I’m thankful for them all, but it wasn’t my most fun version of Christmas ever. Come hell or high water, this year, this Christmas, we are going to have fun.”
