Mariah Carey’s classic hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” has finally made its award show debut at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

With creative direction and choreography helmed by Debbie Allen, Carey transformed the BBMAs stage into her own winter wonderland, complete with ice skaters, faux snowfall, and a live audience. The set was previously described as a “festive Aspen-inspired and surprise-filled” show during its initial announcement. The invited guests were selected in a new collaboration between the BBMAs and Spotify Fans First, who partnered up to discover which fans consumed the most hours of music over the past year and helped their favorite artists soar to the top of the Billboard charts.

The 54-year-old descended from the sky wearing a mini white figure skater dress with matching boots and sunglasses that rested atop her head. Her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, set in the background in their coziest winter gear — bopping along to the festive tune.

They, later, presented their mom with Billboard‘s Chart Achievement Award for “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The record is “the first song to lead the Hot 100 charts across five distinct years and is the only song to reign in more than two individual years.” She’s also the only female artist with three songs that topped the Hot 100 for 12 weeks or more, and Carey holds the record for longest span of Hot 100 No. 1s — 32 years and five months.

When accepting her honor, the certified Queen of Christmas expressed, “Billboard has been an integral part of my life for a very long time now. Even though I don’t acknowledge time, I kind of have to admit that some of my most memorable times in my career are connected to Billboard and the BBMAs.”

She continued, “This award is particularly special to me because this song itself changed my entire life. When I first sat down to write ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ I never could’ve imagined that I would be standing here three months later accepting this for it… Thank you to everyone who allowed this song to be part of their holiday soundtrack each year.”
