Mariah Carey Accuses Ex-Assistant Of Trying To Access Her Medical Records, Rushes To Court

Mariah Carey rushed to court demanding her ex-assistant not be allowed to see her medical records.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the singer is pleading with a judge to shut down two subpoenas her former employee, Lianna Shakhnazaryan, sent to her doctors.

Mariah and Lianna are currently battling each other in dueling lawsuits. The pop star accuses Lianna of secretly recording her. She says Lianna then used the videos to try and blackmail her for $8 million. Lianna accuses Mariah of owing her money and wrongful termination.

In newly filed documents, Mariah says Lianna recently served “subpoenas on two of Mariah’s doctors, Dr. Nazarian and Dr. Lerner.” The subpoenas asked the doctors to turn over communications they had with Mariah, Lianna and Mariah’s former manager Stella.Mariah argues her medical records are covered by patient-physician privilege. She says Lianna has no right to see the documents.

She says, “And consistent with her shakedown litigation tactics, Shakhnazarian now claims that she is entitled to Mariah’s medical records because Mariah has somehow placed her own health at issue. That is wrong.”

Mariah adds, “This is not a case about Mariah Carey’s health. Mariah does not seek damages for physical injury or emotional distress. Mariah does not make allegations about her health. Shakhnazarian does not make allegations about Mariah’s health.”

The singer wants the court to shut down the subpoenas and sanction her ex-assistant to the tune of $7,833.

Earlier this year, the singer sued Lianna Shakhnazaryan accusing her former employee of attempting to blackmail her for $8 million with “intimate videos” of Mariah, filmed without her permission.

Mariah hired Lianna to be her personal assistant in 2015. In her lawsuit, she claims Shakhnazarian “turned out to be a grifter, a Peeping (Tom)asina and an extortionist. “ She originally sued Lianna for $3 million in damages. Carey amended her lawsuit to seek an additional $2 million in damages. She believes Lianna leaked her medical records to the press, after the lawsuit was initiated.

Lianna has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and says any actions she took were in response to legitimate business necessities.

She even argues any mental or emotional injuries Mariah suffered were caused the singer’s own behavior. Lianna claims the alleged damages may have been the result of pre-existing medical conditions.

The ex-assistant demanded Mariah’s lawsuit be tossed out of court.

Lianna counter-sued Mariah accusing her of wrongful termination, whistleblower retaliation, and harassment. Mariah has moved to dismiss the lawsuit in court. Both cases are pending.

Mariah does have some good news.
