Margot Robbie Just Debuted Her Shortest Haircut in Years

She also went Old Money Blonde for spring.

Margot Robbie has finally put Barbie in the rear-view mirror — and that means that she's ditched her go-to blonde, too. On Apr. 13, Margot hit the red carpet at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, where she showed off a new haircut and darker blonde color. According to People, the transformation was the result of three hairstylists, making the new sleek bob a team effort of epic proportions.

The cut came courtesy of Aleksey Bishop, who was behind Robbie's new sleek, polished lob, which hit her collarbone. Jacob Schwartz, Robbie's colorist, added darker roots and deep blonde highlights. Robbie's natural hair color is brunette, in case anyone forgot. Hairstylist Christopher Farmer offered the finishing touches, People adds, by flipping out the ends and giving the look "French girl" vibes.

"Growing up, I would cut off all of my Barbies hair. What a full circle it is to cut off the real-life Barbie‘s hair," Bishop explained on Instagram.

At the event, Robbie's stylist, Andrew Mukamal, pulled a full 180 from her Barbie press extravaganza and chose a minimalist Rick Owens gown to compliment Robbie's new cut. The strapless neckline was the perfect opportunity to showcase the actress's new hairstyle. 

Robbie's next project is A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which will see her sporting a new strawberry-blonde hue and a set of blunt bangs.

Details surrounding the film's plot are scarce but Variety notes that it's "an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them."

Robbie also made headlines last week when it was announced that her production company, LuckyChap, would produce a movie based on the board game Monopoly. According to the BBC, Hasbrow has been trying to get a Monopoly film made for over a decade.

Speaking to Variety in February, Robbie explained that she was hoping to create the same magic that Barbie created, though it's not clear what a Monopoly film would entail — not to mention the fact that it'd be tough to match Barbie's $1.38 billion box office payday, which set a record for a live-action film directed by a woman.

"We want to make more films that have the effect that Barbie has."I don't know if it has to be Barbie 2," Robbie said. "Why can't it be another big, original, bold idea where we get an amazing filmmaker, a big budget to play with, and the trust of a huge conglomerate behind them to go and really play? I want to do that."
