Margaret Qualley Takes an Action-Packed Road Trip in Trailer for Ethan Coen's “Drive-Away Dolls”

'Drive-Away Dolls,' which also stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon, is in theaters Feb. 23

Margaret Qualley is on a road trip to remember in her latest movie.

On Thursday, Focus Features released the trailer for its new movie Drive-Away Dolls, which stars Qualley, 29, as a woman named Jamie who rents a car with her friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan) to drive to Tallahassee, Florida.

Unfortunately for the two friends, they accidentally grow embroiled in a group of criminals' plot to transport an important case with an unidentified package inside after the car they rent turns out to have the mysterious item in its trunk.

After Jamie and Marian discover the package, a band of criminals led by Colman Domingo's character — who appear to work for Matt Damon — begin to chase the pair down. Fortunately, they seem to find an ally in a police officer (Beanie Feldstein) who they meet along the way as the chase devolves into a cat-and-mouse game.

An official synopsis for the movie describes it as a "comedy caper" that features "Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up."

"In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way," the synopsis reads.

Pedro Pascal also appears in the new movie in an undisclosed role. He can be seen trying to prevent the film's central suitcase from falling into the wrong hands in the trailer's opening moments.

Drive-Away Dolls is directed by Ethan Coen, who cowrote the script with his wife Tricia Cooke in her screenwriting debut. Cooke has worked on a number of 66-year-old Ethan's movies with his brother, Joel Coen, as an editor, dating back to 1990's Miller's Crossing.

Ethan and Joel, whose work together includes critically-acclaimed movies like Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), among others, began working separately in recent years after decades of directing films as a duo. Joel, 68, last released The Tragedy of Macbeth as a solo project in 2021.

Drive-Away Dolls is in theaters Feb. 23.
