Margaret Qualley is officially set to play Amanda Knox in an upcoming Hulu limited series, according to THR.

The series is currently untitled, and was created by KJ Steinberg (This Is Us, Gossip Girl), who will also serve as showrunner. Currently, any other casting or information on the series is unknown.

The limited series will run for eight episodes, and is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.”

Knox’s case was a high-profile one for a decade

Knox’s case was cast under a massive spotlight when she and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were arrested in Italy in 2007 for the murder of Meredith Kercher, a fellow exchange student.

The pair were convicted of the murder in 2009, but Knox was later definitively acquitted of the crime in 2015 by Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation.

The story of Amanda Knox is something that has been covered in countless films, documentaries, and podcasts. Most recently, 2021’s Stillwater is thought by many to be based on Knox’s story, something she took umbrage with when she accused Matt Damon and writer-director Tom McCarthy of distorting the facts around the case.

Most recently, Qualley can be seen in Ethan Coen’s latest film Drive-Away Dolls. Up next for the star is a starring role in Coralie Fargeat’s body horror film The Substance, as well Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film Kinds of Kindness.
