Margaret Cho is getting candid about her sobriety journey.

The comedian, 54, opened up on the latest episode of The Osbournes podcast about hitting in a new milestone in her latest round of sobriety after struggling for decades to get her substance use under control.

"This time around 7 years which is great, but I've been around since 1996,” Cho told Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne. “Hopefully this time around it’ll stick.”

“I hope so,” she added. “I’ve spent a lot of time on it this time.”

Cho was open about her experience with the Osbournes — several of whom have struggled with their own sobriety — saying it's an ongoing challenge to make it last.

“I didn’t really get it the last time around but it’s also a constantly evolving project, you know, your mental health and your wellbeing,” she explained. “It’s an ongoing piece of art you have to keep applying yourself to.”

Cho explained that she used to take drugs “in order to be social."

"My preference was to not do it around anybody, but if I had to be social then I would do it just to do that,” she said.

“To give you confidence?,” Sharon asked, to which the comedian agreed.

However, she admitted that the drugs led to even bigger issues: She would get angry with other people.

“Yeah totally snapped, but it’s more internal so I’m not really sure,” Cho said. “I’ve like snapped at a couple… because I would get that opioids rage.”

“Itchy and bitchy, but then you combine that with some [Xanax] entitlement,” she said, referring to the drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. “You get all barred up and then you're super entitled and super angry, and then it's a recipe for disaster.”

The Good on Paper star previously gave PEOPLE a peek into her new mindset in 2021, saying that she felt “at ease” with the current state of her life.

"I don't feel alone at all. I feel like my life is really full," she said at the time. "I do have people who are in my life and that I see in a romantic relationship. That's really important, but at the same time, it's not driven towards a marriage. It's not driven towards partnership.”

"To me, that's really adult and really appropriate for what I want to do with my life now. I've never felt so fulfilled, and it's because I get to live by myself. I just never allowed that for myself because I was always in fear of [living alone]. As women, we're socially conditioned to want to find 'the one.' I realized that it's just better to be alone. I feel so much more at ease."
